In a post-lockdown fitness club, getting your usual workout routine done may seem a little trickier than before. But with a little careful planning, you can maximise your gym time, whilst ensuring social distancing is a top priority.
We've been busy during lockdown putting numerous safety measures in place to ensure our members can enjoy adequate social distancing whilst getting their sweat on.
A few tips on getting your fitness fix whilst keeping your distance...
TIMING
Log into the member's area and you'll see real time usage levels for your club. By keeping tabs on the busier times, you can plan your workout when the club is quieter. If you're able to, plan out your workouts outside of typically busy times, such as 5pm rush hour or lunch times when the club will naturally be busier.
Members at Portsmouth, Bristol and Basingstoke can enjoy 24 hour access to the gym floor, perfect for early risers or shift workers who want to work in their workouts at a time that suits.
Hitting the gym in the morning helps to kickstart your metabolism and boost your energy levels for the day ahead. Or tackle a gym session later in the evening to help release tension and promote a better night's kip.
SPATIALLY SAVVY
We've put numerous cutting-edge safety measures in place to keep your workout space, well, spacious!
The weights areas have been clearly sectioned out for social distancing, with floor markings. Be a pal and respect your fellow members by keeping within the markers. If the weights area is quiet, pick a spot that leaves an additional space between you and other lifters.
Our kit has been separated with high quality perspex screens, to prevent contamination. Though feel free to put a little extra distance between you and others using the cardio kit, by leaving a machine between you.
BOOK IN
For swimming slots and classes, members must book in advance using the online member's area (log in here) or via our app. (Members of Scottish clubs must also book to use the gym floor). Class numbers have been reduced to allow for social distancing, so book your favourite classes in advance to avoid disappointment.
COME READY
If you're able to, come gym-ready to avoid the need to hit the changing rooms before and after your workout. Whilst the changing areas have adequate social distancing measures in place, it saves you from having to wait, worrying about risk... not to mention hauling your gym gear around with you.
Our hotel guests are asked to come gym ready and freshen up afterwards in their own private rooms.
ONE WAY
One way systems have been put in place to prevent you from getting too close, and that awkward scenario of 'I'll go this way, you go that way' as you move around the club. Please follow the floor markings to help everyone move around smoothly and safely.
MIX IT UP
Favourite bit of kit looking popular? Avoid waiting around and make use of equipment you haven't used before. Not only a great way to kill the waiting time, but you may find a new love for another piece of our cutting-edge Technogym gear!
KEEP THE CASH
To avoid contact as much as possible, our clubs are now cashless. Please pay for goods and services using contactless card where possible.
We hope that our social fitnessing measures will not only keep you safe, but offer reassurance that your safety is our priority, leaving you to get on with enjoying your workout.
