TIPS FOR RUN CLUB FIRST TIMERS

FIRST-TIMER TO RUN CLUB?

Coming along to a run club for the first time is a fantastic step in getting more active and socialising! We don't mind how much or how little of an experienced runner you are - if you are after a fun running community who'll support and motivate you, we've got the lot.

Here are a few tips to make your first run with us enjoyable and stress-free:

Pace Yourself

It's simple to fall into the trap of trying to keep up with everyone else, but keep in mind, our run club welcomes runners of all abilities. Start at your comfort zone. It's perfectly okay to take a walk break or dial it back - our focus is on progress, not perfection!

Wear Comfortable Gear

Choose comfortable running gear and footwear. You are not required to be fancy, make sure that your shoes are the right fit so that you won't be uncomfortable. Think about the weather and have a water bottle so that you can stay hydrated.

Stay Consistent and Keep Coming Back

Consistency is key with running. The more you attend, the stronger you'll be physically and mentally. Every run is an opportunity to improve and challenge yourself. If you enjoy your first run, come back the following week and the week after that! As you get into a routine, you'll see your endurance, strength, and overall fitness improve!

Meet New People and Have Fun!

Our run club is a community, and we'd love you to come on in. Have the opportunity to chat with other runners, share goals, and get the social aspect of the group. Running is enjoyable and about assisting each other, so don't be shy! Don't forget to join our Strava group to keep the goal sharing going outside of the club!

Stretch and Cool Down

After exercising, don't neglect to cool down and stretch. Stretching serves to aid recovery and prevent injuries, so grab a few minutes to relax and unwind. You could even follow your run with a trip to the pool or cold plunge for some extra love to your muscles!

Final Thoughts

Most of all, have fun and be consistent. Each run will improve you, and the more frequently you attend, the more part of the community and confident you'll feel. We look forward to sharing the journey with you - see you at our next session!
