We all feel a lot more motivated in summer, right? There's a reason for that! The sun, or even simply being outside, has such a drastic effect on our moods and motivation.
We want you to make the most of this while we have it and drive yourself to the best of your abilities. Moving outside has so many benefits and is a great habit to get into, especially during the spring and summer months. If you can keep this going through the winter too - bonus points to you!
So why exactly does this make us feel so good? The sun itself is proven to increase the body's levels of serotonin, the ‘happy hormone’. More of this = better mood all round, more energy and you will likely feel more calm too. You will also benefit from the sun’s rays and the Vitamin D your skin will produce from this, this helps reduce inflammation through the body and helps with anxiety and depression.
There are both physical and mental benefits to a bit of nice weather, and there are a fair few on the physical side too - it is proven that being outside can lower blood pressure, reduce stress and also contribute to a better sleep, reducing insomnia. If you are looking to get the best out of your day and the most from your workouts, then all of these things will make the perfect little package.
Walking is a great way to boost your fitness in-between workouts, especially in a time pinch when you can't quite make the journey to the gym, try squeezing a couple in your next week, on top of your usual workout plan. Being low impact means it’s perfect for those important rest days.
The change of environment within your routine can also work wonders, a fresh space will help prevent fatigue and boredom, especially if you are starting to feel unmotivated.
So, how to go about it? You can of course move your usual workout to an outside space (a back garden or local park) or you can even try something new! You could try out one of our outdoor classes on offer and if you’re lucky enough to live nearby - head to one of our outdoor pools or open AIR spaces!
Ask at your local club and see what we have in store (or outside) for you!
